Users of DrayTek routers across the UK have been encountering unusual rates of internet disconnections and reboot loops recently due to a “Router vulnerability”.
If Remote Access is enabled, disable it unless absolutely necessary.
Use an Access Control List (ACL) and set up Two Factor Authentication (2FA) to limit access to the router.
If the router firmware hasn’t/can’t be updated, disable both Remote Access (Admin) and SSL VPN until the router is updated.
Disabling Remote Access
Restore Connectivity
If you have done the previous solutions but connectivity has not been restored, DrayTek recommends the following:
Disconnect the WAN cable.
Login to the router’s Web UI and check the system uptime. If the uptime is lower than the last known reboot, this indicates the router recently restarted.
Disable Remote Management by going to [System Maintenance] > [Remote Management].
Disable SSL VPN Service by going to [VPN and Remote Access] > [Remote Access Control].
Reboot the router and reconnect the WAN cable.
Monitor the connection to see if the WAN remains stable.
Follow these steps and the problems should be fixed. If not, contact us today for personalised, dedicated troubleshooting of all your IT needs.
